How to Measure Your Land with Agrixia

If you own agricultural land in Pakistan, you know the pain of getting it measured. Hiring a patwari costs PKR 5,000 or more, takes days to schedule, and you are never quite sure if the measurement is accurate. With Agrixia's Zameen Naap feature, you can measure any piece of land in seconds, completely free.

What is Zameen Naap?

Zameen Naap (literally "land measurement" in Urdu) is a built-in GPS-based land measurement tool inside the Agrixia app. It uses your phone's GPS to calculate the exact area of any piece of land. It supports all 8 measurement units commonly used in Pakistan: Kanal, Marla, Acre, Bigha, Killa, Square Feet, Square Meters, and Hectares.

Method 1: Walk Around Your Field

The simplest way to measure your land is to physically walk around the boundary. Open the Agrixia app and tap "Zameen Naap" from the home screen. Tap "Start Walking" and begin walking along the edge of your field. The app tracks your GPS position in real-time and draws the boundary on a satellite map as you walk. When you return to your starting point, tap "Finish" and the app instantly calculates the total area.

This method works best for fields where you can walk the full perimeter. The GPS accuracy is typically within 1-2 meters, which is more than sufficient for agricultural land. For best results, walk at a steady pace and ensure you have a clear view of the sky (GPS works poorly under dense tree cover or near tall buildings).

Method 2: Drop Pins on Satellite Map

If you cannot physically visit the land, or if the field is very large, you can use the pin-drop method. Open Zameen Naap and switch to "Pin Mode". Navigate the satellite map to find your field, then tap on each corner of the boundary to drop a pin. The app connects the pins and calculates the enclosed area.

This method is especially useful for remote land, or when you want to measure a field you are considering purchasing. You can zoom in on the satellite imagery to place pins with precision. The satellite maps are updated regularly and provide a clear aerial view of fields, roads, and landmarks.

Sharing Your Measurement

Once you have measured your land, you can share the result in several ways. Tap the "Share" button to send the measurement as a rich card in an Agrixia chat conversation. You can also attach measurements to marketplace listings or job posts. For example, if you are hiring someone for harvest work, you can attach the field measurement so they know exactly how much land needs to be covered.

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Measure on a clear day for best GPS signal
  • Walk at a steady pace and stay on the boundary line
  • Use pin-drop mode for very large or irregular fields
  • Download offline maps before going to areas with poor internet
  • Save your measurements for future reference

Zameen Naap has already saved thousands of Pakistani farmers the cost and hassle of hiring a patwari. Whether you are settling a boundary dispute, listing your land for sale, or just curious about how much land you own, Zameen Naap gives you the answer in seconds.
